Acupuncture Postpartum

Postpartum is a delicate time full of change, challenge, and transformation. It can be the best of times and the worst of times, all the same time. The excitement and fantasy of pregnancy gives way to the sometimes harsh realities of full-time mothering with varying levels of support. It is a time when women are so busy with their babies that self-care easily takes a back seat to the heavy demands of nursing, mothering, sleep deprivation and living a busy life. I always tell my patients that the times in their life when they don’t think they have time for acupuncture are the times when they probably need it the most, and postpartum tops the list as one of those times. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to a new mother’s physical and emotional wellbeing to receive acupuncture during the postpartum years; it will influence a women’s overall wellness for years to come.
